Why sudden testicular pain matters
Sudden testicular pain may come from torsion, inflammation, infection, trauma, hernia, or other causes. The condition that must be ruled out quickly is testicular torsion because it is an emergency that needs rapid hospital assessment.
If pain begins suddenly, is severe, affects one side, comes with swelling, nausea or vomiting, abnormal testicle position, or begins after activity or waking, do not wait for it to go away and do not rely on a routine clinic appointment.
When to go to hospital
Go to hospital immediately if sudden testicular pain is severe, or occurs with swelling, redness, fever, nausea, vomiting, or trauma. Early assessment helps doctors separate urgent conditions from problems that can be followed.
If pain is chronic, mild, and has no emergency signs, clinic assessment can help look for causes such as varicocele, inflammation, or cyst-like swelling.
What information to prepare
Tell the doctor when pain began, what it feels like, which side hurts, and whether fever, nausea, burning urination, discharge, or injury occurred. Bring medicine and medical history details. These points help triage urgency.
For non-urgent symptoms, patients can begin with the clinic's urinary tract, prostate, and male reproductive consultation service. For severe sudden pain, go to hospital first.
